We embarked on a girls’ weekend retreat in January 2026, celebrating 30 years of friendship and a birthday. Our destination was the stunning winemaker’s cottage, offering breathtaking views and a beautifully furnished home with all the amenities we could need. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our experience was fantastic. Adriana, Jen, and Zehra were incredibly helpful, checking in and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Sara M, our wine tasting guide, was an absolute delight. Her extensive knowledge of various wines made sure we all had a great experience, even with our differing preferences. We left with a substantial wine collection! Lori C, our trip organizer, made sure we felt at home and took care of every detail. As a token of her appreciation, she gifted us a bottle of her favorite wine. An unexpected treat was meeting the owner and winemaker, which added to the overall experience. I recently visited Napa Valley for wine tasting and can confidently say that our experience at Barrel Oak Winery was equally enjoyable, if not better. I can’t wait to return!

Barrel Oak Winery is a cute spot less than an hour from DC. The views are great. The wines are delicious. The staff is amazing. I may be biased but Jen Wanek is the best! Go see Jen and the rest of the staff!
